Freedom For You

I want this blog to be a modern Magna Carta, from the 1215 event which gave some rights to individuals.

More Flag Worship

The inauguration of President Obama is like a coronation. More power for the oligarchy. This ceremony is more peasant money spent for worshiping and adoring the State.

Again and again, flags are used as a visual image to gain authenticity and authority for the State.

The flag of a country induces the citizens to obsequiousness. The citizens are duped into hope in the State as the ultimate problem solver. The people believe in the State the same way people believe in a religious huckster.

President Bush, Keeping America Safe

President Bush took credit for keeping America "safe" for the past seven years.

What does he mean by safe? Safe from another terrorist attack? Safe from an invasion by another country? What country would and could invade America with its two oceans and two friendly neighbors protecting America?

During those seven years since the 9/11 terrorist attack, where all the attackers died, there have been more people killed in America by their spouses than were killed in the 9/11 attack.

During the seven years since 9/11 there have been about a quarter of a million fatalities on the government roads.

America has always been a safe place from terrorists and invasions, that is, until it started meddling in the affairs of other countries. For almost two centuries America had no terrorist attack to be concerned with. It only started when the U.S. government started taking sides between rivals in the Middle East.

Was the reduction in your freedoms caused by the Patriot Act worth the perceived safety?

What was the cost of the safety Mr. Bush refers to? Let the thousands of dead, maimed, and tortured answer that question. Ask them Mr. President.

A new voice for bigger government

"Liberty means responsibility. That is why most men dread it". - George Bernard Shaw

Economist Robert Shiller is the new liberal voice for bigger government because,- he predicted the credit crisis. This one prediction makes him credible for more government regulation. Shiller says our animal instincts, even in buying and selling, must be controlled. http://www.newsweek.com/related.aspx?subject=Robert+Shiller

Shiller thinks that government employees who also have animal instincts can control the animal instincts of the rest of us. This logic is as old as Plato's Republic, and like Plato, Shiller is wrong.

The government cannot control envy, greed and the other animal instincts we all have. The government should punish wrongs done to others, but not be given the power to control us. Why would you voluntarily give your power to others who have animal instincts?

People want to believe when their elected officials go to Washington D.C. and become government employees, those government employees will throw away their deadly sins and retain only their heavenly virtues. It just doesn't happen. Power corrupts.

People want the government to provide them with safety and protection, and food and shelter and medical care. If they want that they should go to prison where the government has complete control over their safety and welfare.

However, even in prison, where the government has the lock and key and control over your life, the government does a poor job of protecting you.

165 Million Workers, Some Economy

There are 145,000,000 civilian people working and another 16,000,000 government employees working in 89 THOUSAND state and local governments, and 14 MILLION federal employees for a total workforce in America of 165,000,000.

So why does Obama say everyone must make a sacrifice in this down economy? Will those government employees make a sacrifice?

Why does Obama and the other government employees tell us Armageddon will happen unless, THE GOVERNMENT does something? Because the government loves the power to do more and more.

The government rewards and encourages people to borrow and go into debt. The government discourages and punishes people for saving. The government will give you a tax credit for interest paid on a house loan and will tax your interest earned in your savings account. Government does nothing well.

My neighbor just bought two foreclosed condos in Salinas, CA. One for $65,000 that sold new for over $200,000. He will rent it out with a positive cash flow. The economy works if the government will get out of the way.

165 million people who want to produce and trade is one big economy. It cannot be controlled by a few government employees. If the government would get out of the way and allow producers to produce, consumers to consume, and savers to save, the economy would do just fine.

State Budgets, Court System

Many states are finding it difficult to balance their budgets. One way states are trying to balance budgets is to reduce the funding for their court systems, laying off clerks and delaying jury trials. This delays justice for the accused. It slows the action of civil justice.
http://www.blogger.com/

The reasons for the crisis in the court system is there are too many laws and too many attorneys. How many times have you heard someone say, "There ought to be a law that prohibits, or forces,--"?

The only laws the State should be involved in are laws that punish people for harm against people or their property, which includes theft by fraud.

Almost half the prisoners in America are there for a drug related offense. Most of these are victimless crimes. Legalize drugs and the threatening meltdown of the court system and the state budgets will be eliminated.

Another big court expense is the family courts that try to be the guardians Plato envisioned in the "Republic". The family court spends too much time micromanaging dysfunctional couples. The court should tell those parents who cannot reach an agreement on child custody and child support on their own that the court will put the children into a foster home and make both parents pay until they can decide.

People entering marriage should be required to buy a bond against divorce and child custody battles. All marriages should have pre nuptial contracts to avoid lawsuits in divorces. All people should be required to buy a surety bond to protect against child support. If they have no children in their lifetime, at age 65 they can collect on the bond. This would help eliminate divorce trials and expenses in the family courts.

If the plaintiff and defendant agree to abide by a cultural law; Jewish law or Shira law, they should be allowed to settle their divorces and civil suits there. This would relieve the burden of the courts, made up of Plato's overpaid and over perked guardians.
